Process:
I chose to do the key chain activity and decided to put the phrase, "Don't Forget Me" on it. I went through many different typefaces and decided that I liked the font, Baron Neue. Since the words were going to be cut by laser, I definitely wanted to go with a sans serif typeface so that it cuts out nicely on the plastic of the keychain. It also offered many weights which I thought it would work well with the keychain.
Result:

It's good to upload of the whole process when you working. I'll try next time.

ReplyDeleteCute key chain! The color and the wording both serve the purpose of reminding people " don't forget bring your keys!" Because it cuts through, it is interesting to find out letter O becomes a big hole. I saw you were playing around with the font in Illustrator. How did you make your mind to choose this fount over the others?
DeleteHi Yina,
DeleteI definitely wanted a sans serif font as I wanted the cut to be simple and clean. I chose the font because of many weights it provided and I thought that it would cut nicely on the plastic I chose! :)
Hi Seung! When we were laser cutting together you realized that the hole for the O and D were not going to show up. To solve this you could have engraved the world even though I know you wanted to cut through, or created a join between the positive and negative space of the letter. That being said I really like the way it came out regardless. The large holes give it a bold look.
