11.2 Final Project Initial Idea
My dice results were internet art, performance, and voice. For my final project, I want to gather all the different medias and technologies I learned and demonstrate how to use them. This will be my performance element. I will record the instructions on a video. Through the voice element, I would like to record the voiceovers telling how to use these technologies. I will upload these technology performance and voiceovers on the internet by creating a site. This site will act as a learning platform that showcases different technologies. The visitors will have the opportunity to learn various medias by looking at my performances and listening to my voiceovers.
11.1 3D Printed Object
The Outcome:
The Process:
The Experience:
I worked with Dahye and Wei for this project. We decided to print a brain and a box through the 3D printer. We found a template of a brain at Tinkercad and adjusted the size of it. For the box, we made our own using the object tool in Tinkcercad. Then, we took the files to the Myer's Studio. At first, several attempts were made before the printer could print our objects smoothly. It was pretty tedious at first, but once the printer found its base, it was fascinating to watch the machine printing. Andrew was there to help us and showed the whole printing process. It was quite long, but certainly an interesting experience to see how the printer receives the file and completes its job.

10.2 Comments
- Dahye/Scratch: This is really fun to watch, especially with the sound. I really like the background, character, etc. you chose. It's very addictive to watch!
- Wei/Laser Cut: I love this! I actually saw this in person and it turned out really well! I am surprised to look at the original illustration which has a lot of details to it, but it transferred to your planner nicely. Great job!
- Sophia/Scanography: I really like how you organized the objects on the scanner bed. It's very fun and playful to look at. The colors also came out vibrant against the black background which makes the objects pop out more. I enjoyed looking at each scanography!
- Katherine/Scratch: This was really fun to play with! I especially like the sounds it makes when the character hits the pizza, rat, and taxi. So playful!
- Yina/Scanography: The textures you made on the scanner bed is so interesting! I love how they are also in black and white. It makes the scanography to look more intense and strong. Good job!
- Nicholas/Scanography: I love your scanography on nature! Since the leaves, flowers, etc. are layered together on the scanner bed, I really like how it creates a sense of depth. So beautiful!
- Yina/Scratch: This is such a playful game! I really like the concept and the objects you chose. I would love to know more about how you coded this animation!
The takeaway: It was really great to see everyone's work on their blogs. I realized that I didn't get to see all of them during class. I really liked receiving feedback from my classmates and learning more about their thinking/opinions towards my work. I also liked reading comments on other classmates' projects. It creates a digital forum where everyone shares their opinion, and I thought it was really great. It keeps the conversation going which we may not be able to do in class because of time.
10.1 2D Design
Process:
I chose to do the key chain activity and decided to put the phrase, "Don't Forget Me" on it. I went through many different typefaces and decided that I liked the font, Baron Neue. Since the words were going to be cut by laser, I definitely wanted to go with a sans serif typeface so that it cuts out nicely on the plastic of the keychain. It also offered many weights which I thought it would work well with the keychain.

9.2 Scratch in Art Classrooms
I really enjoyed working in Scratch. I faced some challenges in the beginning as I did not know the program so much, but it became easier as I spent more time on it. I noticed that there were many steps that you had to go through in order for an object to move the way you wanted to be, etc. However, it got easier as you start to get used to the whole process. I thought that it would the same process for the students in both elementary and secondary schools as well.
I can really see the students enjoying this program. Scratch is such a great tool for the students since it gives them an opportunity to create a world of their own and gives them a control over what they would like to create. It offers so much to the students. The students can also create many things through this program. They can create animation, game, etc. Many lessons could be created using this program.

8.4 Reading Takeaways
- The chapter, New Media Arts, the Do-It-Yourself Movement, and the Importance of Making, explores many different digital medium that could be introduced in classroom settings. The chapter provides information on creative coding, video game design, and DIY projects. The author explores the programs which can be easily accessible to students without intense training and skills. It was nice to learn them as a future art educator and I hope to implement those programs in my classes. I also liked how the author ended the chapter with asking question on whether making, creating and performing matter in classes. He explains that students who are involved in the arts perform much better academically. At the end of the chapter, the author provides information on tools and communities that are involved with art learning through digital tools.
- In the chapter, Arc-of-Life Learning, the author explains what the "new culture of learning" is to the audience. He asks what would happen if we move away from classes for learning. As he continue to give examples of what new culture of learning is, he presents two elements that make the new learning successful. The first one is unlimited access and resources from a huge information network. The second one is an organized environment that allows experimenting and building with things. Both of these elements need to be worked together to make the new culture of learning feasible.
8.3 Stop Motion Lesson Plan

8.2 Stop Motion Animation Process
I used EZGIF.com for this project. After I took all the photos, I uploaded them on the website and controlled the speed and the photo effect to get the result. My subject is a basil plant that I have in my apartment. The basil leaves were big enough to be taken away, so I decided to take each basil leaf one by one and took photos of each scene. I thought that it would be more interesting if I rewinded the scene and make it seem like the leaves were actually growing back on the main branch. I changed the order of the photos on EZGIF.com and I was actually happy with the result of it.
